Are You Pursuing Your Passions?

It’s already the end of the first month of the new year. Day to day, it feels like time moves by slowly but then before I know it months have passed. It’s important to me to never feel like I’m wasting time, I want to be able to look back on my life and feel like I’ve done (or at least tried to do) everything I wanted. So it made me think to start asking…Is time flying by and you have all these thoughts and dreams in your head but you’re not going after them?

Why?

What is keeping you from going after all your dreams and passions? As human beings, our brains are wired to keep up safe by trying to keep us from change or doing anything out of the ordinary (read more about it by clicking here). We are great at coming up with logical reasons and excuses that hold us back. Things like worrying about what other people will think, or thinking it’s not what they want/expect of you. Or what about not having the resources? I’m sure we’ve all made the “I don’t have enough time or money” excuse before. Other times it’s internal, thoughts and feelings we have about ourselves. The self-doubt or low-self confidence, thinking that you’re not capable enough, smart enough, talented enough, good enough, etc. Maybe it’s simply lack of clarity or confusion and you have no idea what to do or where to start…but what if you told yourself you are enough and had everything you need to make something happen?

What would your life look like if you followed your passions? What if you said screw the excuses and you always took action towards achieving something new? It’s not easy; It takes work, getting creative, being persistent and patient. I believe that life is a work in progress and it should always be about looking for the best way to grow and the next thing to do. That doesn't mean that life isn't going to be hard or have its struggles, but wouldn’t you prefer to spend life working towards things that bring both joy and hardship and feel fulfilled and accomplished? Instead of feeling like a robot, simply going through the motions, and look back filled with regret.

I want to challenge you to dream big and write down any thoughts and ideas you have, impossible as they may seem (the bigger the better!). Do you want to travel the world, start a new career, learn a new skill/hobby (play music, master a handstand, create art?), make new relationships, move to a new place, get in the best shape of your life, buy a house, hike a mountain, build a family, have a million puppies?! The options are endless. You have this one life, I say we make it amazing.
